Top Two Free Language Apps on iOS | Android

Two of my favorite language resources are Duolingo and Memrise.

The word 'duolingo' comes from the word 'duo' and 'lingo' meaning 'two languages'. Alexa, the website ranking site ranks duolingo 872 in the world right now with most of its users coming from the United States at the time I checked (January 2019). Maybe, the speaker of two languages could be called a duolingist? It is safe to save that duolingo has a lot of languages to learn from. Duolingo is probably the most popular app when it comes to learning popular languages, especially Spanish. Don't be discouraged if it is not your target language. Most of my followers of this blog are from Pakistan, United States and India and their target language is English for the countries from sub-continent and Spanish for the North American country. English is not available on duolingo for Urdu speakers. For Hindi speakers, English (2.84 million learners) is available. English for Spanish speakers are around 27 million. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the Hindi course. If you are interested in downloaded duolingo on Apple devices go to Apple store, and for Android, you can go to Google Play

The word memrise is most probably play on the word memorize and it will most likely help you memorize the word 'memrise' for sure. Ah! that's a lot to take in, I agree! So let's move on. The ranking of memrise according to Alexa is 3987 in the world (January 2019). Memrise is a language learning app that focuses on Quizlet like focused flashcards. These flashcards are mnemonic tools for the students because they are supposed to be quirky so that you can remember it better. Memrise is focused on trying memory techniques that can help you recall and remember a new word faster. Memrise had a global leaderboard but they don't have it anymore. I occasionally see winners of competitions on its blog. Memrise has a scientific approach based on three things: Elaborate encoding--creating new types of fun associations, Choreographed testing--practiced learning through different setups, and Scheduled reminders--creating scheduled repetition to refresh memory.
